If you prefer to use the reverb, delay, or equalizer effect plug-ins in your sequencerA computer program used for storing and transmitting sequences of musical information. Similar to a player piano that transcribes and plays musical information as holes in paper, MIDI sequencers use electronic data to record and reproduce performances. or hostAudio or notation software that makes use of virtual instrument plug-ins. When the ARIA Player is used as a plug-in, your audio or notation software hosts it. program, you must bypass or switch off the on-board reverb (Convolution and/or Ambience) of the ARIA Player. Using reverb in both locations can result in a "muddy" sound.

The Effects view provides controls for the Convolution reverbA sampled reverb effect included with the ARIA Player. Like a sample library consists of actual recordings of a musical instrument, Convolution consists of actual recordings (known as impulse responses) of the reverberation of a physical space. and Ambience reverbAn algorithmic reverb effect included with the ARIA Player. Like a softsynth plug-in simulates the sound of a musical instrument, Ambience simulates the reverberation of a physical space. effects. Settings made here simultaneously affect all instrument slots that employ these effects (controlled by the Send knobs in the Mixer view). Much in the same way as the acoustical space adds a great deal to a live musical performance, reverberationThe audio phenomenon that occurs when a sound is reflected and absorbed by surfaces in a physical space. Reverberation effects are used to add depth and realism to audio recordings. Commonly abbreviated as reverb. effects can impart a three-dimensional ambient sound to an instrument or group of instruments in the ARIA Player. Reverb can also improve the blend of an ensemble by providing a sense of space and effectively smoothing the sonic edges. Reverb is perhaps the most widely used audio effect, and the instrument patchesA particular instrument sound, often containing multiple samples. The term is borrowed from physical synthesizers in which cables were used to connect sound modules. Also referred to as program. contained in each Garritan sample libraryA piece of software consisting of a collection of recorded instrument sounds. Sample libraries can be used to play back existing MIDI sequences or to act as a live virtual instrument. rely on reverb for a realistic sound.
