Registration, installation, and activation

Before you can use Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite, you must register it with MakeMusic, install it onto your computer, and then activate it to enable every feature.

Registration

In order to activate your library, you need to register CFX Lite to your MakeMusic account. If you're a new MakeMusic customer, create your account first.

  1. From www.garritan.com, click My Account. The MakeMusic Log In or Create Account page appears.

    2. My Account is accessible from any MakeMusic website.

  2. Click Create A New Account. Step 1 appears.
  3. Enter the required account information, and then click Continue. Step 2 appears.
  4. Enter the required contact information, and then click Save. Your My Account > My Software page appears.

Once you've created your account, register your product.

  1. From www.garritan.com, log in to your account, or if you don't have one, create an account. Your My Account > My Software page appears.
  2. In the Finale Notation and Garritan tab, click Register more products. The Authorize Your Software page appears.
  3. In the Ownership drop-down menu, choose your ownership type.
  4. In the Product drop-down menu, choose Garritan. The Item drop-down menu appears.
  5. In the Item drop-down menu, choose Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite. The Serial Number text field appears.
  6. Type your serial number as it appears in your confirmation email, and then click Next. Your registration completes, and your activation keycard appears.

    Serial numbers consist of 5 groups of 5 numbers with each group separated by a hyphen.

    7. Once you've installed Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite, use the keycard to activate the library.

Installation

Everything you need to install CFX Lite is included in your download. Please take note of the system requirements before installing.

ClosedSystem requirements

The following table lists the computer and hardware requirements for using Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite. You can use CFX Lite on most any modern personal computer that meets the specifications listed below. The specifications provide the minimum standards.

If you are using Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite within a host music program (such as a notation program, DAW, and/or sequencing program), there may be additional resource requirements. Please also observe the system requirements of your host application, if applicable. The demands of any additional processing software (including the sequencer, audio and effects processors, other plug-ins, and so on) can affect functionality.

Windows PC Microsoft Windows 7 or later
  • Multi-core processor recommended.
  • 4 GB RAM recommended. There is a direct correlation between the amount of available RAM and the number of sounds that can be loaded.
  • 26 GB of free hard drive space. Hard drive speed of at least 7200 RPM recommended; SSD is preferred.
  • A dedicated hard drive for CFX samples is recommended, but not required.
  • Internet connection for download, updates, and online registration.
  • Monitor with 1024x768 resolution or higher.
  • Audio interface compatible with ASIO™ recommended.
  • A MIDI interface may be required if you are using a MIDI keyboard. Many keyboards now use USB.
  • The ability to assign controllers within your keyboard, music program, or sequencer is recommended.
  • High-quality speakers and amplifier, or high-quality headphones.
Mac Mac OS X 10.8 or later
  • Multi-core processor recommended.
  • 4 GB RAM recommended. There is a direct correlation between the amount of available RAM and the number of sounds that can be loaded.
  • 26 GB of free hard drive space. Hard drive speed of at least 7200 RPM recommended; SSD is preferred.
  • A dedicated hard drive for CFX samples is recommended, but not required.
  • Internet connection for download, updates, and online registration.
  • Monitor with 1024x768 resolution or higher.
  • A professional sound card compatible with Core Audio.
  • A MIDI interface may be required if you are using a MIDI keyboard. Many keyboards now use USB.
  • The ability to assign controllers within your keyboard, music program, or sequencer is recommended.
  • High-quality speakers and amplifier, or high-quality headphones.
ClosedTo install for Windows
  1. Download CFX Lite from your MakeMusic account.
  2. When the download is complete, double-click CFX_Lite_Concert_Grand.exe.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the desired components:
    • CFX Lite Standalone. Installs CFX Lite as its own software program. You can play instruments, record basic MIDI, and render audio files.
    • CFX Lite VST32. Installs CFX Lite as a 32-bit VST plug-in for use in sequencers and notation software.
    • CFX Lite VST64. Installs CFX Lite as a 64-bit VST plug-in for use in sequencers and notation software.
    • CFX Lite AAX Native 64. Installs CFX Lite as an AAX plug-in for use in Pro Tools.
  4. Continue to follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

    5. After installation, activate your library.

ClosedTo install for Macintosh
  1. Download CFX Lite from your MakeMusic account.
  2. When the download is complete, double-click CFX_Lite.pkg.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the desired components:
    • CFX_LITE_AU. Installs CFX Lite as an Audio Units plug-in for use in sequencers and notation software.
    • CFX_LITE_VST. Installs CFX Lite as a VST plug-in for use in sequencers and notation software.
    • CFX_LITE_AAX. Installs CFX Lite as an AAX plug-in for use in Pro Tools.
  4. Continue to follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

    5. After installation, activate your library.

Activation

After you've installed and registered CFX Lite, activate the library for use on your computer. Unless activation is completed with your encrypted, personalized keycard, CFX Lite will run in demo mode. In demo mode, sound is disabled after five minutes, and saving presets is disabled.

ClosedTo activate the CFX Lite
  1. Go to www.garritan.com, and then click the Support tab. The Garritan support page appears.
  2. Click the Generate Key Card button. The log in page appears.
  3. Log in to your MakeMusic account. Your My Account > My Software page appears. If you don't have an account, create your account and register your software.
  4. Find your Garritan CFX Lite registration, and then click Generate Keycard. Your activation keycard appears in a drop-down.
  5. Right-click the keycard, select Save Image As, and then save the keycard PNG file to your desktop.
  6. Open the standalone player.
  7. Drag the keycard PNG icon from your desktop onto the standalone player. A message will appear indicating that the library has been successfully activated.

    If your computer does not have Internet access, you can save your keycard PNG to a flash drive from a computer that does have Internet access, and then transfer it to your computer.
