Lid Position

What it does

In Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Lite, open, half open, and closed lid positions are available for use with any of the microphone perspectives.

Example: The Half or Closed Lid Position might be the right choice for your project when you need to dampen some of the high overtones of the piano so that it blends in with an articulate bass line, or so that the piano doesn't cover up an instrumental solo.

Much more than a simple low-pass filter, the three distinct lid positions were created from impulse responses of a Yamaha CFX Concert Grand piano. This sampled reverb results in an amazingly accurate and lifelike representation of the piano in each lid position.

To change the lid position

1. Click the Piano button. The Piano view appears.

2. Click the Lid Position menu, and then choose a lid position from the drop-down menu that appears.
