Sustain Resonance
What it does
Try it: When the Sustain Resonance knob is turned up, play the piano with the sustain pedal (CC 64) down. This resulting sound has a denser harmonic texture, because other strings are very gently vibrating as you play.
Sustain resonance is the slight excitement of all strings that occurs naturally when playing the piano with the sustain pedal down. Because the sustain pedal has lifted the dampers off of every string, the effect can be heard throughout the entire range of the piano. A subtle but powerful effect, sustain resonance is only active while the sustain pedal is down.
To add sustain resonance
- Click the Piano button. The Piano view appears.
- AdjustClick and drag the knob up or right to increase and down or left to decrease. the Sustain Resonance knob until you hear the desired amount of resonance from the strings when you use the keyboard or play your MIDI controller while the sustain pedal is down.
